I was born into a farming family in northern NSW raising sheep, cattle, pigs and some cropping. I managed the property for a few
years and gained qualifications in wool classing. For most of my working life I have been involved in education but have remained
connected with rural activities on our property near Armidale. Initially we were involved in sheep production but later converted
to alpacas and cattle.
We became involved with the SRS® breeding system in 2005 as we had witnessed the benefits of successful SRS® sheep
breeding on properties in our area. The science behind the system was convincing and we are now seeing very positive outcomes with
our current breeding program. The access to research, skin testing, the use of a breeding advisor and the opportunity to share ideas
with like minded alpaca breeders has had a great impact upon the quality of the animals and fibre.
As a Breeding Advisor my focus is on developing and providing quality workshops and conferences for breeders and in conjunction
with Dr Jim Watts, support the breeding programs of overseas subscribers with their breeding programs. I am very passionate about
assisting breeders in the use of the SRS® breeding system to breed quality animals of high density and length and producing
fleece of exquisite quality suitable for the luxury textile market.
