BREEDERS OBSERVATIONS
Artic Lad is a Wool sire with impeccable solid white parentage. The sire has high fibre density and high fibre length and excellent fibre uniformity into advanced age. At 7 years of age, his primary fibres are fine in diameter (mean of 29.8 microns) with exceptionally low variability (standard deviation of only 2.3 micron). His third fleece in November 2003 tested 20.4 microns for fibre diameter and his fourth fleece, still just 21.2 microns.
His outstanding show results include Championships and progeny class wins against the best. He was: Intemediate Champion Male at Geelong and Bendigo Shows in 2001; Champion Senior Male at Mudgee Show in 2003 and Champion Mature Male at Mudgee in2005; first Adult Male at Canberra Royal Show in 2003; Champion Adult Male at Royal Bathurst Show in 2003; Champion Senior Male at Mudgee Field Day in 2003;and still Reserve Champion male against males half his age at Stawell Show in 2007. His fleece awards have been: second at Canberra Royal Show in 2003; second at Ballarat Show in 2002; first at Bathurst Royal Show in 2003; and first at Canberra Royal Show in 2004.
Artic Lad has returned to Bonnie Vale to continue as part of our SRS(R) breeding program. In 2007, he produced a 4.2 kilogram fleece testing 23.3 microns for fibre diameter.
The proof is in his high quality progeny who have won loads of broard ribbons. His progeny have won progeny classes over the most acclaimed sires. The fleeces consistently have soft silky handle and long length. His 20 cria progeny at Bonnie Vale produced, for 6 months wool growth a fleece averaging 1.4 kilograms in weight (or 2.8 kgs for 12 months) and 19.9 microns for fibre diameter in 2009.
